I CAN'T WIPE THE SMILE FROM MY FACE

“Doing what you like is freedom, liking what you do is happiness.”

– Frank Tyger.

I am standing at the edge of a cliff, and it is absolutely freezing. (-3.6C)

The wind is blowing ferociously. And it's hard to hear as it whips around you.

My fingers feel like ice, and my teeth are chattering.

The sun is setting and I am in one of my favourite places.

I can't wipe the smile from my face.

This moment is an idea I have had in my head for over two years, maybe more.

I finally put my thoughts into action and created a space for creativity, connection and community.

It's only small, like a seedling, and requires a lot of nurturing.

Yet, each time I run a creative joy session, there are sparks as the creative energy rips around us.

There is laughter and pleasure in being together rather than behind a desk.

There is dancing as "Walking on Sunshine" blasts around the studio.

And the results are so different.

We see and observe differently.

We feel and notice emotions differently.

We listen and pay attention differently.

We create differently.

That is what shows up in the images we create during these sessions.

We share our unique point of view, story, and self in how we frame, what we keep, and what we cull on the editing room floor.

As I step away from the edge, my mind races with ideas and ways to run more sessions like this.

I've started something without a clear path or end. It's exciting and scary at the same time.

Yet, I am holding onto the reigns, trying not to run too far ahead of myself and let it unfold naturally.
