MOTHERHOOD AS A TIMELINE
MOTHERHOOD AS A TIMELINE is a collaborative project curated by Cindy Cavanagh, working together with photographers worldwide. It's a celebration of motherhood from early pregnancy to great grandmother. It's not a definitive collection; it's a stepping stone towards a new narrative around motherhood. Every summer, we see scarcity and fear that there are only 18 summers with our children. As they grow and evolve, so does our mothering. It doesn't end on that 18th summer. Let's see the change as an expansion of our hearts. New people come into our children's lives like friends, boyfriends/girlfriends, partners, spouses, and their own children. With each new love in their life, our heart grows too. There's abundant room in our mothering for the changes that come as we get older. This series is a timeline to show motherhood through its stages.
Thank you to the 32 artists from 12 countries who shared their art, words, and version of motherhood. This project is a thread connecting our stories from all over the world, one that I hope will weave and grow into a more extensive collection.

Please visit the blog post to see all of the words. A few artists shared heartfelt words in detail and sadly I couldn’t include them in the video. I highlighted the headings and shared all the words in a blog post. Grab a tea or coffee, and sit with the artists and their words. Follow them if you don’t already and enjoy their work.
The next series will be MOTHERHOOD IS A PLACE. This series will capture our home, our wanderlust, and our landscape. It can be as small as a kitchen in a city apartment or as wide as a homestead in the outback. It can also focus on the loss of place too for those who are living through pain like refugees, domestic violence survivors, or losing it to fire or flood.
This series will be shared as a black and white collection in September, so please complete the form below if you would like to participate.
