Planning a family photo session in Sydney? Unsure of what to wear and the best location for your family? I’m here to help.

Let’s start with some simple questions.

The memories fade away; they really do. So what do you want to remember about this time in your life? Is it sleeping babies that makes your heart swoon? Or chubby fingers and toes or those baby hairs escaping from ponytails. The twirling dresses or overalls with boots that are a size too big. Maybe it’s big kid you won’t be able to carry next year, or the last day your breast feed your baby. These are the stories you want to tell them.

Where is your favourite place to spend time together? Is it one of Sydney’s beautiful beaches or the Blue Mountains. Do you have a favourite walking track or is it your backyard? Do you like to snuggle on the couch and play games in the family room. This is your happy place and it’s always the best location.

I’ll be honest with you, I think the least important question is what to wear to the portrait session. Why? Pretty clothes are wonderful but what’s more important is the connection and love in your photos. I always send out a simple guide, so let’s focus on the emotion and capture real smiles in your family photos.

Lastly, if you want natural family photos spend an afternoon telling stories, sharing memories, and playing games. Look them in the eye and tell them why you love them, whisper it in their eye, hold their hand, and gently push the fly away hairs out of their face. I promise to do the rest.
