Around our table.
I never dreamed of castles or riches,
Or fancy restaurants with too much cutlery
and stiff tablecloths with rules I could never follow.
My dream was simple.
A rustic table with scratches and marks,
someone's initials scratched on the legs,
leftover paint from masterpieces
splatted on the chairs,
all of us around our table,
filling our chipped plates with delicious food,
spilling juice on the crumpled tablecloth.
I dreamed of conversations where we all talk over one another, of laughter, music, and complete chaos,
I dreamed of our family table,
and, it came true.

(223) “I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.” Helena Bonham Carter
Note to self: remember this when you are looking for inspiration or the feel the need to be inspired. Curiosity leads the way!
